Summary
Marinette wasn’t sure what to expect after coming home late from school, only to find the GCPD and news that her parents were suddenly missing, but being taken in by billionaire Bruce Wayne was the last on her list. Unsure of what her future held, she found a glimpse of hope with the discovery that Bruce Wayne was Batman, and the realization that she could aid him on the investigation into her parents as she trained to become his new Robin. Life was difficult as she constantly worried over her family and the dangers she faced every night, but it was easier to see the good as having Bruce Wayne as her guardian allowed her to meet her favorite designer, Gabriel Agreste and his model son, Adrien Agreste, and being enrolled into a different school gave her a great new friend group, including her BFF, Alya.
Life took a turn for the worst, as her newfound friends were suddenly involved in terrible accidents, ones she tried and failed to stop as Robin, leaving them all hospitalized in terrible conditions. With the immense guilt on her shoulders, as no progress had been made with her parents, and feeling that she failed to save her friends, along with the feeling of being utterly alone, Marinette retired as Robin.
Now an adult, Marinette has made a fine career for herself as a fashion designer, though she has isolated herself from any possible social life, and despite his efforts to reach out to her, has lost contact with Bruce and the small family she had as Robin. She is forced out of isolation as a new wave of villains suddenly appear in Gotham, villains that seem familiar to her. Wanting to uncover this mystery, she returns to Batman, finding that his team has grown a lot without her, including one who calls himself “Chat Noir,” who seems to have an idea of where these villains came from. Taking on the name “Ladybug," Marinette and Chat Noir must find out why these villains were made, what connects them, and if there is any way of saving the people underneath to thwart the plans of a growing threat in Gotham.

History
This AU is the result of me watching The Suicide Squad while I was deep into Miraculous, wondering what the akumatized villains of the show would be like if they were actual villains 24/7. With Miraculous on the mind, and knowledge that a bunch of people had already made AUs and crossovers with these two worlds, decided that I should throw my own hat into the ring. I went the "Marinette taken in by Bruce Wayne" route because I knew I would have to force her to join the superhero/vigilante world with trauma relating to her parents, while focusing on how Ladybug, Chat Noir, and the akumatized villains would function and even come about without any magic. I will be honest, this AU is, as it stands, more like "Miraculous but without the magic and they're Americans in Gotham" and I'm still trying to figure out how I'd tie in more aspects of the Batfam, his rogues gallery, and the greater DC Universe, but I suppose that as I develop the characters and these stories, you guys can watch me as I do just that!

Updates
I have a script written, and while the story has no name yet, all you have to know is that it features Chloe and Marinette as Robin. I have not started the illustrations for this one yet, but I will let it be known here once I start!
